Ascent of Peak 2682 on 2010-12-23
|Date:||Thursday, December 23, 2010|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||2682 ft / 817 m|
Ascent Trip ReportI approached Peak 2682 from Sterling Creek Road and BLM 39-2-7. I drove about .7 mile up the BLM road and then took the left fork onto another BLM road down to a locked BLM gate. I parked and hiked up the road. The road does a switchback and gains the ridgeline heading towards Peak 2682. I followed this nice road for about 2.5 miles, over a small saddle at about 2,950 ft, and on to where it ends and an ATV track continues down the ridgeline to Peak 2682. I descended all the way to a saddle on the east side of the peak at an elevation of about 2,340ft. Here the ATV track ended and I climbed up the slpe to the summit under a sparse forest cover. There are some nice views on this hike, especially to the snow capped Siskiyou mountains to the south.
