Ascent of Peak 2203 on 2010-12-19
|Date:||Sunday, December 19, 2010|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||2203 ft / 671 m|
Ascent Trip ReportPeak 2203 is a difficult peak to access. There is a popular shooting range on the west side of the peak, an active gravel mining operation on the north side, a huge land fill site on the south side, and Agate Lake on the east. There is also a canal with water about 6 ft deep and 20ft across that proceeds along the east, north, and west sides of the peak. From looking at satellite photos, I found a bridge over the canal on the east side near the golf course, so I used this route to access the peak. I parked at Agate Lake, hiked up to the canal, followed it to the bridge, crossed and hiked up to the paved private access road to the land fill, hiked up the road a ways and then crossed the road and hiked up to the gravel mining area. I hiked on a Sunday, so the site was idle today. From there it was open country under scrub oaks to the summit. Nice views of the White City area from the summit.
