Ascent of Peak 5130 on 2010-11-01
|Date:||Monday, November 1, 2010|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||5130 ft / 1563 m|
Ascent Trip ReportI approached Peak 5130 from Graves Creek Road and Big Boulder Creek Road. This road wanders around the mountain but eventually I ended up on the east side of the peak where the topo shows the road ending. The road actually continues but it looked like that red sticky clay mud and I didn't want to chance getting stuck. I was close enough to easily walk up. The red muddy road goes up towards the summit, but it kind of wanders around with a couple switchbacks. When it crested the ridge north of the highpoint I left the road and climbed up a clearcut logged area to the summmit. There were some views in places on this hike, but mostly the hike was in the forest. This peak is right next to King Mountain to the west and could easily be hiked from that peak also.
