Ascent of Panther Peak on 2010-11-01
|Date:||Monday, November 1, 2010|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||4460 ft / 1359 m|
Ascent Trip ReportI approached Panther Peak from West Evans Creek Road to Coolaway Gap. At Coolaway Gap I turned south on a good gravel road that took me all the way around Skeleton Mountain and to the Skeleton/Panther saddle. Just before the saddle I turned east and followed this road to where it ended on the south side of Panther Peak. The road really didn't end, it was bermed to prevent further vehicle travel towards the summit. I parked and hiked up the road and then close to the summit hiked through some grass in open country to the summit. I met a couple hunters near the summit who were discouraged with their lack of success in finding a deer to kill. I bagged the summmit so I was happy. There are some views here.
