Ascent of Boswell Mountain on 2010-10-26
|Date:||Tuesday, October 26, 2010|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||3502 ft / 1067 m|
Ascent Trip ReportBoswell Mtn is in a "Road Closed" area or what they call a "Green Dot" road area from mid-October until the beginning of May. This is enforced by OSP. Get a map from the BLM that shows what roads you can drive on before entering the area. I drove up Long Branch Road from just outside of Shady Cove and the OSP officer suggested I park just outside this wildlife refuge area and hike from that location. I did just that. I hiked about a mile westerly on a road to a saddle and then took a lesser road south towards Boswell Mtn. I hiked about .5 mile and then left the road and hiked up through a logged area to the ridge. The ridge is a little brushy and there is an old road that I followed most of the way to the summit. The summit has been recently logged. On a clear day there should be views. Today it was snowing on me and I had limited visibility.
