Ascent of Peak 5401 on 2010-10-21
|Date:||Thursday, October 21, 2010|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||5401 ft / 1646 m|
Ascent Trip ReportI approached Peak 5401 from I-5 taking the Mt Ashland exit and then driving past the road to Mt Ashland and continuing south. I turned up the road to the Pilot Rock Trailhead. This is signed and is a popular trailhead. I parked at the Pilot Rock Trailhead and hiked up the road towards Pilot Rock until the road turned left towards Pilot Rock. I left the road and hiked cross country to the right towards Peak 5401. About half way up to the summit, I crossed the PCT and continued on to the nice summit. Great views from the summit. There was even a register in the summit cairn to sign. This would be a good warm up hike for Pilot Rock which is just east of Peak 5401.
