Ascent Trip ReportA day hike to Mt. Monroe in New Hampshire. Mt Monroe (5372 feet/ 1637m) is a mountain in White Mountain National Park, right next to Mt. Washington (6288 feet/ 1917m), the higest peak in the Northeast. It is about 3h drive away from Boston. To prepare for this day hike, we traveled to the nearest town and stayed overnight at a youth hostel.
The distance to the peak is only about 5km, but there is a region with really steep strenuous climb. Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperative but we still managed to climb up to the peak through the drizzling rain. We saw wild fox, squirrel and bear (searching dumpster by a restaurant) in a day!
