Ascent of Mount Washington on 2010-10-11
|Date:||Monday, October 11, 2010|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Location:||USA-New Hampshire|
| Elevation:||6288 ft / 1916 m|
Ascent Trip ReportI was on a time limited vacation and tried twice to drive to the summit. The toll road was closed half way up by snow and ice both times. I drove to the other side and took the Cog Railroad to the summit. Just as our train left the depot the clouds parted and the sun came out for a beautiful afternoon on the summit except for the wind and cold....
The cog railroad is fun but a little expensive at $62 each round trip. The summit was covered with rime ice and it made for slick footing. The wind was steady at about 36 mph and it was 24 degrees on the summit.
