Ascent Trip ReportDarryl and I hiked with 3 other hikers to Vose Spur. Our original hiking/bushwhacking plan was to get to the summit of Vose Spur, then, come back to the Carrigain Notch Trail, then, move forward on this trail counter clockwise, then, peakbag Carrigain and hike out to the parking lot. However, we missed the starting point of bushwhacking to Vose Spur about 200-300 ft first of all. Then, Darryl said we can proceed more on Carrigain Notch trail a bit more toward NorthWest, then, we can start bushwhacking which will be less ascent of bushwhacking. So we decided to follow his plan, then, first an hour was totally fine, but, we were stuck at the cliff. All rocky and it was difficult to go up. So we decided to go down a bit, and bushwhacked toward SouthEast side to get closer to herd path which hikers normally use. Then, before we got to herd path, we again started to aim summit. Eventually, we're stuck again at the cliff. 1 hiker could go up, so we tried to follow. But one another hiker indicated that he was not comfortable to go up the cliff. So we decided to go down a bit again, proceeded toward South East. Soon after, cliff is gone and all were normal woods and normal soft ground. So we again! (3rd time) aimed to the summit of Vose Spur. Finally we reached to the summit and found canister. After all, we spent 4-5 hours bushwhacking just to get to Vose Spur. So we ended up to give up Carrigain hike on 9/25. Well...I guess I'll have to come back here to peakbag Carrigain...
