Ascent Trip ReportHiked up Calkin's Brook with John S at 8:00AM to Donaldson, then Emmons, then over to Seward and down Seward herd path to Ward Brook Truck trail. Beautiful skies and views of Long Lake and the Eastern High Peaks. The view from Seward looking at the ridge was incredible. All in all was a great hike. If we were to do it over again, we would have turned back on Seward and retraced our way back down Calkins Brook - The Calkins Brook path was a dream, especially compared to the very rugged, steep, rocky and muddy Seward trail from the truck trail. Boy, that was a blood pumping descent if i ever had one. So far the two steepest descents I have been on has been this trail and the unmaintained range trail coming directly off santanoni.
