Ascent Trip ReportI approached Red Blanket Mtn from Hwy 62 turning on FR 60 the Mill Creek Ridge Road. I turned off of FR 60 onto FR 6215 which passes on the west side of Huckleberry Mtn and continued on to where the road crosses the northeast ridge of Red Blankeet Mtn. I parked here and hiked directly at the high point. FR 6215 connects directly to Hwy 62 and I could have driven directly up this road to Red Blanket Mtn. I could see the high point from where I parked and I was concerned that the north face was a sheer cliff. The rocky head of the summit stood up above the forest and it looked like a sheer cliff that I was hiking towards. As I got closer to the summit, I veered to the right some and found a weak spot in the cliff about .2 mile from the summit along the cliff. It wasn't technical getting up to the summit area or climbing the last rocky slope to the summit. Great views of the surrounding mountains. There is a benchmark on the summit. Nice little hike.
