Ascent of Mount Field on 2010-09-04| Date: | Saturday, September 4, 2010 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Mount Field | | Location: | USA-New Hampshire | | Elevation: | 4320 ft / 1316 m |
Ascent Trip ReportAfter coming down the Tom Spur we found the junction with the Willey Range Trail about 100 yards away off the A-Z Trail. The Willey Range Trail to Mount Field is fairly mellow. The trail surface is predominantly soil, with a few rocky sections. The ascent up Mount Field is shallow, and uniform with fleeting views through the trees on either side.
The summit of Mount Field is wooded and broad, and offers little in the way of panoramic views, though there is a small overlook to the North from which the Mount Washington Hotel can be seen. Jadyn and I reached the summit of Field as the clouds were beginning to clear giving us our first decent views of the trip.
