Peak:Stanislaus Peak

Ascent Trip Report

Continuation from Sonora Peak. First time I've actually used the GPS for an entire hike. For both Sonora & Stanislaus from St Mary's Pass TH: 9.28 miles, 3.0 mph average speed, 8.2 mph max speed, 3 hrs 17 min moving time. After Sonora Peak, I cut northwest back to the trail and to the pass southeast of Sonora Peak. From there, I found a use trail that heads up the southeast ridge. Pretty steep, but stable. The top is nice and flat and there is a summit register. After dropping down the steep SE ridge, I cut back to the trail and managed to make it to within 1/2 a mile of the St Mary's Pass TH before needing my headlamp. I hitchhiked back to the USMC base where I am staying for work after hiking from the St Mary's TH to the east side of Sonora Pass.
