Ascent Trip ReportI hiked Red Butte as part of a longer hike that included Garns Mtn and Piney Peak using several different trails before ending the day back at the car. The drive in to the trailhead is a long way on a good gravel road. Lots of traffic on the road because it was huckleberry season. Ken Jones wrote a nice TR at http://cohp.org/id/Madison_1.html and I followed his directions for the entire hike. Beautiful day, great views. All hiking stats are combined on the Piney Peak ascent page. The trail up the north side of Red Butte is not maintained and is steep at the end of a long day.
