Ascent Trip Report

Did this as a day hike. Got to the trail head at about 6 am and started up at 6:30. Took the standard trail to the summit. Summited in 9 hours including time for lunch and breaks. The weather was moslty clear with a couple rain/sleet storms that rolled past quickly. For my age and physical condition it was a grueling climb and about a third of the people on the mountain that day turned back short of the summit. Leave early and take a light jacket in case of weather during the summer. Poles are highly reccomended and crampons would have been nice when crossing the glacier. There is a couple good scrambles but plenty of hand and foot holds so it was not too hard even for a novice like me. FYI take a golf ball with you there is a golf club up there....Would have been my longest drive had I known before hand. Be sure to sign the guestbook in the small ammo container by the flag.
