Ascent Trip ReportRain canceled my plans to climb this peak last Friday so with today being beautiful and not overly hot, it was a great day to get it done. Started from Rte. 30 at Noon exactly and made good time. The stream crossings and the wooden planks to help navigate muddy areas actually made this trip even more interesting. It seemed like each turn offered a different type of trail...muddy here, then full of tree roots, then rocky, then gravel and almost sandy leading up to crossing the stream, etc. At the top of the mountain there are several trails that intersect and it can be a bit confusing, but the main trail is marked with red markers still and leads directly to the tower. The views were incredible today and rivaled the great views from the summit of Mt. Adams last August. I'll need to look at the pics from each to compare. Headed back a minute or two from the tower to the large grassy lookout and had lunch there. Passed several groups on the climb today and was happy again to see so many people enjoying the mountains.
