Ascent Trip ReportThe Star Lake Trail may not be the fastest route to the summit of Mt. Adams, but it's definitely worth the extra time and effort (unless you really have to be somewhere in a hurry). We did Mt. Adams on day 1 of a Presidential Traverse after climbing Mt. Madison. The upper part of the trail is steep and exposed, with lots of boulder hopping and some good scrambles. But the views back to Star Lake and Mt. Madison and down into the Gulf are great. We had fantastic weather, but I would not be as excited about doing this route on a miserable windy rainy day . . .
