Ascent of Mount Abraham on 2007-01-07| Others in Party: | Fran Christopher John | | Date: | Sunday, January 7, 2007 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Mount Abraham | | Location: | USA-Vermont | | Elevation: | 4006 ft / 1221 m |
Ascent Trip ReportVery Icy conditions. Because of this, it took about twice the time it normally would (we should all have had crampons or stabilizers). Had to bushwack a little around areas of trail which were entirely iced over. Quite chilly throughout the trek, which was exacerbated by our slow movement. Beautiful sun rays penetrating the dense spruce/fir forest. Made it to the summit to find spectacular views of the Green, White, and Adirondack Mountains, as well as Lake Champlain and associated valley.
