Ascent Trip Report

I would have to say that this was the best hike I have experienced so far (considering the weather conditions). My fiance Jesse and I started out at 7:20 a.m. from South Meadows and headed to the Van Hoevenberg Trail to head up to Marcy. It was extremely humid and muggy so we took plenty of water breaks. We also got the chance to check out Indian Falls, which I took some nice pics of. After continuing on (which felt like forever), we finally made it to the top!!! We were very excited and proud to be able to hike the tallest mountain of the High Peaks so early. Considering this was my 8th high peak, it felt good for me! We had a nice lunch and saw some great views. The way down was much easier for me, besides the fact that I took a face plant right into a mud pit and covered myself with mud and water. Thank goodness I had extra clothes. Both Jesse and I were exhausted at the end and had a great night's rest! A very successful trip :-)
