Ascent Trip ReportOur first time on Mount Marcy! Started out from South Meadows at 7:20am with the temperature already over 75 degrees. The truck road took longer then normal (about an hour) due to the heat and humidity. Stopped at Marcy Dam to drink some Gatorade and take a rest. Felt a lot better after the break, and we were on our way. Came across several people heading in the same direction on all parts of the trail. Checked out Indian Falls (amazing views, first time there too). Took lots of breaks for water and Gatorade. Got to the summit around 12:30pm. Ate lunch with about 20 other people at the summit (for it being the hottest day of the year, that mountain was packed!). Took lots of pictures through the haze and ozone. Left the summit at 1pm. Had no incidents the whole way until right before crossing Phelps Brook, Erin slid on a rock and went down hard into a mud hole, but for the most part we remained unscathed. We arrived at the car just before 5pm, hot, sweaty, tired, and very fatigued. It was over 90 degrees at the car. Erin was asleep before we made it to the end of the South Meadow Road! It was probably the best hike we've been on to date!
