Ascent Trip ReportClimbed with father. Departed trailhead off Sawyer River Road at 7:50am. Returned to trailhead at 2:30pm. Route: Signal Ridge Trail to Mt. Carrigain summit to Desolation Trail to Carrigan Notch Trail to Signal Ridge Trail to Trailhead. 8.3 miles for trip. Weather was great: cool, dry. Very windy at peak with gusts feeling around 50mph. Pace was above average (following father's pace). Only saw a few other hikers: one left trailhead around same time as us and the other we passed near the summit who was descending. Took the loop trail on the return trip to add distance and variety. Descending the desolation trail was pretty difficult: lots of loose boulders, mossy/wet rocks, and large drop steps. Enjoyed it. First 4000 peak climbed.
