Ascent Trip ReportWe reached the summit via the Spruceton Road trail, and hiked about 7 miles round trip. It was sunny, few clouds, with a slight breeze that picked up noticeably on the fire tower. This trail is rather wide and gently sloping as it is also open to horseback riding. The historic fire tower is a nice touch as it gives you added elevation for an excellent 360-degree view. There is a water source on your way up that doubles as a spring for the horses. And if you need it, there is also an outhouse on the summit. Earlier that week on Sat 6/26, I hiked the Hunter ski mountain, which is technically known as the Colonel's Chair Ridge. This 3,300 ft height was reached by hiking up the ski slopes, some of which are rather steep. It was really neat to see the mountain and slopes without snow cover. I strongly recommend both hikes!
