Ascent Trip ReportI wish to be perfectly clear that I did not make the summit of this mtn. The summit is a 40 foot boulder that I would not do without a rope. However, I was able to visit the lookout on top of the mtn and that was my objective anyway. Therefore I am checking it off on this site since it is on the fire lookout list and I consider the lookout to have been bagged even if the summit was not. By checking it off, it will then appears as a visited summit on the WA Fire Lookouts List and I consider it as such. Obviously this is an odd state of affairs that is only possible with lookouts and other non-summit objectives to gain the goal without getting a summit.
The route is exactly as mapped from the hwy. The shortcut road at the beginning works just as well as the long bending road. Make sure not to run into the overturned car lying in the middle of the road (seriously). It's a typical lesser use Indian road that is a bit overgrown and somewhat rocky and steep up high but reasonably passable to a vehicle with decent clearance. Inspect the very unusual and challenging boulder just S of the lookout. The lookout is abandoned, very tall and in decent if not perfect shape.
