Ascent of Wildcat Mountain on 2010-06-27| Date: | Sunday, June 27, 2010 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Wildcat Mountain | | Location: | USA-New Hampshire | | Elevation: | 4422 ft / 1347 m |
Ascent Trip ReportParked at the Pinkham Notch visitor center and hiked the Lost Pond trail to the Wildcat Ridge Trail to wildcat A peak, then back tracked to Wildcat D and took the polecat ski trail down. Was only a 1 mile road walk back to the car, but we got a ride from the wildcat parking lot back to the visitor center.
The lost pond trail was a bit confusing at the south end of the pond, lost of paths going in all directions and the trail was not marked that well that area. The ridge trail was fine with its normal muddy spots in the culs. Bumped into many people including "Pepper and Me" (we were the father/daughter team). Bugs were minimal until we decided to head down the polecat ski trail where it seemed that every black fly in NH was waiting for us.
