|Date:||Sunday, June 6, 2010|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||7132 ft / 2173 m|
Ascent Trip ReportI began my hike up Alvord Peak from the road at Long Hollow Summit. I hiked through the gravel pit and then followed the fence line until it ended. I hiked over point 6542 on my way to Peak 6734. There is no trail but it is wide open country with short shrubs and grass. Nothing more than knee high and the footing was great too. Next in line is Peak 6970. From Peak 6970 I descended to Buckwilder Pass and then up to the summit of Alvord Peak. I had to chase a herd of sheep off the summit and they ran around for a while looking at me. Apparently they don't get many visitors. On the summit the wind was blowing, the sky was gray, and it started a light rain. I didn't stay on the summit long before heading back to my truck. All the hiking stats are combined for Peak 6734, Peak 6970, and Alvord Peak.
