Ascent of Mount Jefferson on 2010-05-29| Date: | Saturday, May 29, 2010 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Mount Jefferson | | Location: | USA-New Hampshire | | Elevation: | 5712 ft / 1741 m |
Ascent Trip ReportCastle Trail (ascended), no real snow worth mentioning. a few small blow downs but very easy to maneuver around( I took quite a few and moved them off the trail). The one and only river crossing was easily rock hop-able
Castle Ravine Trail (descended), once you get past the rock slide area, there is a huge slide that plowed all the trees down over the river. Made for tough crossing, but it looked a lot worse than it was to cross. a little further down, I needed to cross it again. Once in the woods, the trail was muddy on the upper part. All the river crossings were rock hop-able except one which required removing your shoes.
Special Equipment Required: no special equipment needed(winter is over up there)
