Ascent Trip Report

I accessed Johns Peak from the same parking spot I used for Peak 3488. I hiked DOWN the road past a green gate and then a second green gate. This is through the motorcyle riders area and there are lots of trails and roads leaving the main road. I stayed on the main road. The TH is at about 3,100 ft elevation and Johns Peak is lower. I hiked down to a saddle at about 2,385 ft on the southwest side of Johns Peak. Once in the saddle, you have to look around to find a fire break headin up the south side to the summit. Don't take the nice road on the left, it goes to a private residence. You could walk around the the east side of the peak to pick up the road that goes to the summit also. The summit has lots of comm towers and buildings. Great views of Medford and the Bear Creek Valley.
