Ascent of Songer Butte on 2010-05-01
|Date:||Saturday, May 1, 2010|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||2740 ft / 835 m|
Ascent Trip ReportDrove down the Greensprings Spur from Hwy 66 clear to the lake. Hiked a trail behind the outhouse that leads up into the oak forest. Hiked the trail for a ways and then found a place that looked good to head up the slope to the summit. Some poison oak, but it was mostly open country under scrub oak trees. Rocky summit and the highest rock requires a Class 5 move to get your butt on top of it. It is about 6ft tall. Nice views of the lake. There is a wooden cross on the summit. I guess it is a cross, the cross member is crooked.
