Ascent of Signal Buttes on 2010-04-26
|Date:||Monday, April 26, 2010|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||3512 ft / 1070 m|
Ascent Trip ReportDrove up from the south bank road. Access road was good until the 4WD road. I car camped at this point because it was late in the day. The next morning I hike up the 4WD road. If you can get over the rocky slide at the bottom of the road, you could drive up another .5 mile and gain another 400 ft. The 4WD road forks at the top of this first hill and both forks are bermed. I went left first for about .4 mile and it didn't seem to be going towards the summit, so I returned and took the right for. This fork went around the west side of Signal Butte and kept going. I turned around and came back some and then just headed bushwhacking up towards the summit. About half way there, I stumbled on an old abandoned road that took me to the summit. This old abandoned road is mostly creek at this point and I missed it when I hiked along the right fork.
