Ascent of Cashner Butte on 2010-04-25

Climber: Dennis Poulin

Date:Sunday, April 25, 2010
Ascent Type:Successful Summit Attained
Peak:Cashner Butte
    Location:USA-Oregon
    Elevation:2420 ft / 737 m

Ascent Trip Report

Accessed from Hazel Camp Road. The northeast side of Cashner Butte is some kind of protected tree farm. I parked at the end of the short spur road from the north that accessed the west side. There is thick brush on the west side and I beat my way up to near the summit where I reached the edge of the fenced tree farm. This fence is 6 ft field wire fencing and then 2 strands of barb wire on top of that. The summit is about 50 ft inside the tree farm, so I had to climb over this obstacle. It would have been much easier to eliminate the bushwhack and just follow the fenceline up to near the summit and then climb the fence.
