Ascent Trip Report

An easy short hike to an unaccessible (???) summit ..... over all less than 1 mile and 45 minutes.

My source of information came from Gary Fallesen's "Peak Experiences" and from the different TR's in Most of this referenced material says that the Owner does not allow visitation although the latest TR (2004) by Dan Case indicates otherwise. I didn't bother to go to the Owner for an update, I chose instead to follow Michael Schwartz's route.

Rose and I pulled in the driveway at house #11310 on the north side of Allen Road and went up to the house (it faces west) for permission to enter their property, it was spitting rain. Brian and his 2 large dogs, both waging their tail, came to the door.
"You're more than welcome, if you want you can park your car in the driveway (he pointed to the spot next to an RV besides the garage)."
I asked if the Highpoint is still off limits to hikers.
"I don't know anything about that, you'd have to go next door."
I thanked Brian, parked the car besides the RV and went up to the Highpoint.

From behind the garage (west side of the property) I picked up the orange-blazed Fingers Lake Trail as it enters the woods and treads its way north about .25 mile to a height of land on the ridge. To the west at about 200 yards in the large open grass field beyond the woods is the not too obvious Highpoint.
I hiked to the flat summit area and stomped around in circles. It was raining with no visibility and therefore no comments on the view.

The Highpoint is located at the southeast corner of the County. From Buffalo travel I90west to Hwy 400/16south to the small village of Chaffee. Turn right on Allen Road (at an old garage) and travel west 4 1/2 miles to house #11310 on the rightside (north) of the Road (owned by Brian and Lisa). The Highpoint is behind the house a short distance further west.
Just past the driveway at the west side of their property line is a yellow sign "Fingers Lake Trail", orange blazed, that heads north into the woods behind the house. It climbs to the ridge and beyond.
