Ascent of Wellington Butte on 2010-04-18

Date:Sunday, April 18, 2010
Ascent Type:Successful Summit Attained
Peak:Wellington Butte
    Location:USA-Oregon
    Elevation:3710 ft / 1130 m

Ascent Trip Report

I drove in on the north ridge of Wellington Butte until the road deteriorated and I didn't want to chance getting stuck in the mud and puddles. My GPS said I was only about a mile from the high point, so I was close enough to hike. I hiked the road about a mile, but it skirts the west side of the summit. I picked a place where I could get up the road cut and climbed the steep forested west slope of Wellington Butte. Near the summit ridge, the terrain became a little brushy, but I pushed through to the high point. Great views looking east and south from the high point.
