Ascent Trip Report

Drove up Sykes Creek and a BLM road. Stopped at a small saddle abut a mile west of the summit. Found a nice trail hidden behind a few trees and followed it up to a mining claim just under the summit of point 3255. From there I found every place on the mountain to bushwhack. The east side of point 3255 has been thinned and all the brush was left to rot in place. Miserable hiking terrain. The right way to go would have been to head southeast from the first mining shaft on steep grassy slopes around the end of the southern end of the ridge and then down to the False Face/3255 saddle. From the saddle up to the summit is a bit of a bushwhack. About 2/3 of it is flagged as the edge of the thinning project and isn't too bad. The last third is bushwhack.
