I have been interested in mountains, hiking, and climbing my whole life. I started hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire when I was five years old, and over the years I have gradually graduated from on-trail hiking to scrambling and finally real mountaineering. Wilderness mountains are my favorite place to travel, and I feel that summits provide a good framework and set of goals for otherwise random wanderings.

Some of my personal climbing records:

  • First Hike: Cannon Mountain, NH. My Dad had to carry me part of the way up.
  • First Summit: Cerro Cristo Rey in the Colombian Andes, when I was 6.
  • Climb I am most proud of: Dufourspitze, Monte Rosa, Switzerland. Airy scrambling in a white-out.
